When 12-year-old Cassius Clay (later known as Muhammad Ali) had his new red Schwinn bicycle stolen in Louisville, he went to a policeman and said he wanted to "whup" the thief. The officer, Joe Martin, told him “well, before talking about whupping someone, you'd better learn how to fight.”
Martin ran a local boxing gym and became Ali’s first coach. For the first six years of Ali's carer, he worked under Martin's guidance, turning raw frustration into focus, becoming a world champion. It was a pivotal moment, overcoming adversity and turning challenge into opportunity, leading to greatness.
At Red Bike Capital, we understand that adversity can lead to greatness. We help founders channel their drive into discipline and execution, particularly through GTM and Growth. Turn challenges into pivotal moments and prepare for the fight that is scaling. Like Ali’s first coach, we back talent early, help them master their craft, and turn potential into performance.
